Strong Colors

“If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly,
our whole life would change.”

The Doors of our Souls

“When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open, and love steps forth to heal everything in sight.”

Friendship and Green Ivy

House in Down Town Charleston

False friendship, like the ivy, decays and ruins the walls it embraces;
but true friendship gives new life and animation to the object it supports.

Red Umbrellas

Help me.... I'm running out of words today! So many words were written already, so many words were said and most the time people are talking anyway to much without saying anything...

What should I say or write to this picture here? Do you have any ideas? Maybe there is not much to say anyway - just one word: ENJOY!

Weekend is around the corner...

HAPPY WEEKEND - Time to fly!

Joni Mitchell - Song to a seagull Lyrics

Fly silly seabird
No dreams can possess you
No voices can blame you
For sun on your wings
My gentle relations
Have names they must call me
For loving the freedom
Of all flying things
My dreams with the seagulls fly
Out of reach out of cry

I came to the city
And lived like old Crusoe
On an island of noise
In a cobblestone sea
And the beaches were concrete
And the stars paid a light bill
And the blossoms hung false
On their store window trees
My dreams with the seagulls fly
Out of reach out of cry

Out of the city
And down to the seaside
To sun on my shoulders
And wind in my hair
But sandcastles crumble
And hunger is human
And humans are hungry
For worlds they can't share
My dreams with the seagulls fly
Out of reach out of cry

I call to a seagull
Who dives to the waters
And catches his silver-fine
Dinner alone
Crying where are the footprints
That danced on these beaches
And the hands that cast wishes
That sunk like a stone
My dreams with the seagulls fly
Out of reach Out of cry

Industrial Charleston - 2

Down on the harbor site is an old building, called the "Power House". The whole place around the house is filled with rusty industrial remnants that have seen long time ago very busy times, I'm sure for that.

Rust can be beautiful, sometimes - often it's not

Nature is taking slowly over all the parts that were used to do work with

more details...

This is part 2 of my industrial photo series captured down in the harbor. There are old empty buildings, no more used rusty machines falling apart on side.

I'm wondering why they don't practice rust waste disposal and use the territory for something good, something better than just an ugly, useless place.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and an AWARD!

HAPPY SECOND ANNIVERSARY!!
September 14th 2006 - September 14th 2008

Hurray! Today is the 2nd birthday of my blog. It's a big day for me and I'm so proud of this little success…the fact that I could continue blogging (almost) every day!

Since starting this blog I have had over 20,000 visitors and I have made 700 posts. I'm so thankful to have met many great friends from all over the globe, you and you and you.....

To keep up a good friendship means a lot for me and that's why I want to say thank you to all of my loyal visitors. Without your supportive comments I would not have come this far.

And now I'm also happy to announce an unexpected Birthday gift I got from a beautiful blogger friend of mine: Michele, the Rocky Mountain Girl. She gave me this wonderful award and I am grateful. She said to me: "I really do love your blog". Thank you so much Michele for this gift and your kind compliment. I'm honored to receive this from you and do you know what, I love your blog too and love to see all your beautiful and refreshing photos, even though sometimes they make a little bit homesick for the mountains. I'm a mountain girl too, but from a place far away over the ocean.

And I had a hard time deciding whom I will pass this award to, because there are so many great blogs that I love. I'm sure all of you, my friends, deserve this award!
I’m going to pass this on to:

Finding Life's Enchantments; Her Blog is so enchanting with every visit I do!

Lynn's excellent nature photos!

my Swiss blog friend in Darfur with a great writing name and always interesting stories to tell!

Vaggelis Vlahos, don't miss excellent photography from Greece!

DianeCA, an American women, blogging about her life and happy marriage in Norway

Congratulations my friends and a big toast to the next two blog years to come! Prosit…Cheers… Skoal…Salute!

Do You Know The Weekend Dance ?

Enjoy your weekend!

I can't wait for the weekend to begin

I'm workin' all week long
I dream the days away
I wanna' sing my song
So let the music play

I have to get my kicks and fly tonight
And when the clock strikes 6 on Fri-day night
I need to blow it all away

I can't wait for the weekend to begin
I can't wait for the weekend to begin

I make it - what I can
I try I try
I'm shakin' - up my plan
And I get by

I'm savin' all my soul
And all my pain
So I can lose control
On Saturday
I'm gonna' blow it all away

I can't wait for the weekend to begin
I can't wait for the weekend to begin

Hungry Carps on Broadway

This are the "famous" ducks and carps on Broadway, non-stop begging for food. No, no, I'm not talking about THE Broadway in NYC, I made the photos at the Broadway Park waters in Myrtle Beach :-)

Hundreds of carps are begging with wide open mouths for food. And of course, people can not resist and will drop 25cents into those little machines there with fish food, drop them to the water and watch the beginning fights for food and surviving.

They look like they would sing a song.... :-)

But for the most of them it is not a fight for surviving at all, look how fat they are! It is only begging!

A pretty and very shy duck tried to catch also some of the dropped fish food

And here I've found a sweet lyric with CHRIS REA about "I'm gone fishing"

I'm gone fishing
I got me a line
Nothing I do is gonna make the difference
So I'm taking the time

And you ain't never gonna be happy
Anyhow, anyway
So I'm gone fishing
And I'm going today

I'm gone fishing
Sounds crazy I know
I know nothing about fishing
But just watch me go

And when the time has come
I will look back and see
Peace on the shoreline
That could have been me

You can waste a whole lifetime
Trying to be
What you think is expected of you
But you'll never be free

While we are preparing for Hurricane Hanna....

While we here in Charleston are preparing for Hurrican Hanna to come tomorrow Friday, making landfall at the Coast of the Carolinas, I'll leave you here with some nice photos from a pretty park in Summerville, SC.

This park is way more beautiful in spring time when everywhere the Azaleas are blooming. That's why has this park also the name "Azalea Park".

There are little ponds with cute sculptures, like this frog.

I love frogs! Should I kiss him now...? :-)

Or this pretty sculpture of the girl with a bird in her hand....

The girl sculpture is overlooking the park area and in the little pond here I have seen many gold fishes swimming around

The bench and the dog - there is a story behind that dog, you can read it on the website link below

Today, Azalea Park features butterfly ponds, an amphitheater,
ornamental bridges, a water garden, artistic
sculptures and gazebos. The Cuthbert Community
Center, built in 1975 and named for former Mayor
Cuthbert, stands in the center of the park. The park
and the mini-gardens within it are usually at their peak
of beauty during the Flowertown Festival

Azalea Park is also the site of the Flowertown Festival, held annually on the first week of April. This event, which features arts & crafts, food, entertainment, rides and commercial booths, draws approximately 300,000 to Summerville.

Spanish Moss

Spanish Moss hanging on a tree - doesn't look like out of a fairytale book?
I have found a very nice lyric to this picture of Spanish moss:

Spanish Moss

Let go darlin’
I can feel the night wind call
Guess I’d better go
I like you more than half as much
As I love your Spanish moss
Spanish moss hangin’ down
Lofty as the southern love we’ve found
Spanish moss
Keeps on followin’ my thoughts around
Georgia pine and ripple wine
Memories of Savannah summertime
Spanish moss
Wish you knew what I was sayin’

So I’m rollin’ north thinkin’
Of the way things might have been
If she and I could have changed it all somehow

Spanish moss hangin’ down
Lofty as the sycamore you’ve found
Spanish moss
Keeps on followin’ my thoughts around
Georgia pine and ripple wine
Kisses mixed with moonshine and red clay
Spanish moss
Wish you knew what I was sayin’

So I’m rollin’ north thinkin’
Of the way things might have been
If she and I could have changed it all somehow

Let go darlin’
I can feel the night wind call
The devil take the cost
I like the way your kisses flow and I love your Spanish moss
